The
Vermentino vine is certainly of Spanish origin. It
has appeared only recently in Sardinia, in the last
decades of the last century, and was first planted
in the extreme north of the Island.
Spreading
from Gallura where it has great personality
(designated geographical origin), Vermentino has
moved to all the main wine-making areas of Sardinia,
especially in the province of Sassari where the
production of Coros (Uri and Usini) is well-known.
Vermentino has a paper white to pale straw colour
with slight greenish reflections; a characteristic
bouquet, delicate, pleasant and dry to taste. |
