The Logudoro - Monte Acuto area boasts a glorious wine
making tradition, as witnessed by the Museum at Berchidda
and the presence of the historical cooperative, ‘Cantina
di Monti’ (Vermentino di Gallura DOCG). Liqueurs and
distilled spirits are also highly esteemed and production
includes Grappa made from ‘Vermentino’ and ‘Cannonau’ as
well as more characteristic spirits such as ‘Abbardente’,
‘Acquavite di Corbezzolo’ (made from the fruits of the
strawberry tree) and ‘Acquavite’ made from Corbezzolo
honey. Local home-made cakes and biscuits range from
specialities such as ‘copulette’, formagelle’ Papassini’,
‘Sospiri’ and ‘Tiricche’ to the famous ‘Seadas’ which are
served with wonderful locally produced honeys made from
‘strawberry tree’, eucalyptus, and wild flowers.
Also famous in this area are the ‘Panadas’ which are small
pies filled with meat or eels. There are also excellent
cheeses, eaten with ‘Spianata’, the traditional flat bread
made in the area and ricotta served with bitter honey. The
area has many efficient tourist structures in natural
surroundings which well represent the typical Sardinian
landscape.
