Gallura
is the land of the highest quality wines and includes
‘Vermentino di Gallura DOCG ‘and ‘Moscato di Sardegna DOC’
among its products. The latter also comes as a ‘spumante’.
There is such an extremely wide and diverse variety of
hotel and restaurant facilities in this area that all you
need to do is choose what is best for you.
Along the coasts, seafood cuisine dominates, with numerous
dishes of fish, shellfish and molluscs (among which the
mussels and cockles are particularly sought after for
their excellent quality); in the inland areas, the cuisine
is instead typical of the local agricultural and
shepherding culture with traditional dishes that include
sweet ‘Ravioli (Pulilgioni)’, ‘Gnochetti’, ‘Fregola’,
‘Zuppa Cuata’ as first courses and suckling pig and kid as
main courses. The local cakes and biscuits include the
famous ‘Acciuleddhi’ which go well with the local honey
especially ‘corbezzolo’ (strawberry tree) honey.
